Microsoft updated it’s site

New look on Microsoft’s site

Well new… I have been seeing it for 2 months or so now :-) Sometimes I just love being one of those select people that gets to test new stuff… Especially if you see it go live. Just makes me tingle :D

And for that reason, I am listening to another song I got during a beta… ;)

Up and running

Yeah, well my notebook is. I am still waiting on the hardware for my PC. I hope it’s delivered soon…

There is something about having a freshly installed OS that just makes me tingle. I love it. The speed, the clean and sleek desktop. I can’t wait to mess it all up again :)

In other news; I have been playing around with VMWare Server and Virtual PC 2007 and I must admit that both are really great tools. Must haves for any IT-folk… ;-) Plus they are free so stop yer bitching :D

In more personal news; doing great at the moment. Eventhough the CCNA study isn’t really progressing in the tempo I want it to, I am doing good. Mind you, I am planning to make up for lost time this weekend so that should even things out.

I also listend to an audio-course of time-management. Good stuff, eventhough I already knew most of it (studied it before ;)) but a refresher is always good. It helped me refocus on a lot of things and to reconsider some things.

Well, I won’t bore you with the details.

Oh and today’s Vista’s tip – which a lot of people seem to not know or forget to tell; PER program volume. Just open the Volume Mixer and you can change the volume per program. No more shitting your pants when an email arrives when you are listening to your favorite music ;)

One down – two more to go

Well I finished the Microsoft ISA 2004 Administrator Pocket Consultant. Good read and well worth the time and effort. If you ever need to understand or want to read up on ISA 2004 – I highly recommend it.

After having finished this ‘study’ I can now focus all my spare time on the CCNA study, and afterwards the Exchange Server 2003 one. Lots of cool new stuff to learn and play with :-)

On a personal note; I am hungry… Been like that all day no matter how much I eat. Guess it’s one of those days huh?

Asides that I have also decided to re-install my laptop with Windows XP. Windows Vista RC2 does run on it, but not that smoothly as I want it to run. Understandably – as the machine only has 512 MB of ram, of which 32 MB is reserved for the ATI graphics-chipset. Windows XP however, runs smooth as a baby on it. So recovery time it is! :P

Well I am off to grab some food and reinstall Windows. Laters!

Signing off

One more post before this week comes to a close, and we move closer to a new year.

Ever since I have reset the BIOS I have not yet had one single reboot. Did experience some errors, but notably less then before. So it could be that there was something fubarred in that config. Who knows? All I know is that I still can’t run sfc /scannow successfully. However, now it only fails at 98%, which is a lot further then it initially did. Perhaps I should try it in Safe-Mode Console boot.

Heh, any more of this and I can write up a short how-to guide detailing how to fix Windows Vista. System Restore won’t help, nor will a backup. I guess I will have to wait until the new hardware arrives so I can rebuild my system. Which I am really looking forward to.

I will be jumping from Athlon XP 2600+ to an Intel Pentium D 820. Major jump for me. Moving from a single-core 1.8 GHz to a dual-core 2.8 GHz CPU should really up the score and performance. But in all respect, I just hope my computer will be stable afterwards. That’s all I ask for.

Oh and I can really recommend Ergo Proxy as a series. Look it up, and you’ll be pleasantly surprised.
