Well, another week past. Already 2nd week in February. Time flies when you’re getting older. This week was pretty good work-wise. The visit to the data-center, and to a customer (on-site) where we placed 2 new DELL servers (and 2 more shortly) to replace the current ones.

I don’t know why, but there still is something to be said about seeing a server power up and actually starting to work ;-). Apart from that I did some general maintenance on our own network and the weekly run-of-the-mill checks in the event-viewers. All is well :-)

On a private note; I am doing fine. Still got a bit of a cold, but I can’t complain considering the weather right now (chilly, windy and lots of rain)  Asides that, I am in a bit of a hardcore mood… Hence the music ;-) Should certainly wake the folks at Last.FM up (that are tracking my listening)

Well anyways, I am off to eat some food and get ready for tonight ;)

Well, today I had another confirmation that datacenters are indeed – cold and noisy. But all in, the job got done and that’s what matters right? Eventhough I am now partially numb from the cold ;-)

Plus I got some new stuff to research – which is always fun.

 Anyways, I ordered a new videocard yesterday – the HIS Radeon X1650 (512 MB model, AGP model) Which should keep me running smoothly for some time. It’s going to replace a X800VE AIW (4 pipelines clocked at 425MHz which makes it perform near a 9600 or so…?) so it’s definately going to be an improvement.

Asides that I am doing OK, feeling spiffy and well – enjoying the stuff and such.

Eventhough today was garbage-collection day – and yes, again I was the one that parked the bins outside. I was amazed to find that 2 out of 3 were actually placed back when I got home. W-o-w. But I think that was done by our neighbour. So I just had to take one back inside… Which is a change. Asides that, one of the lightbulbs blew out again – this time in the only functional/clean toilet so I had to swap it out with one from the hall. I’ll be damned if I pay for a new one – AGAIN. I spent too much money as is already on this place. I think it’s time for my fellow housemates to pick up the slack/bill. But most probably assume that someone else/the landlord will fix it.

 Ugh… I hope to get my new contract soon I can start looking around for a mortgage to finance my own place.

Well I got the day off today. Managed to stay in bed a little longer, catching up on those badly needed z’s. That felt good. I also managed to do some laundry, a quick dab with the vacuum again, and some general cleaning/sorting of the paperwork (does that ever end?)

Yesterday I watched Platoon again. That movie scares and fascinates me so much. I have always been a fan (although considering the content and the set it is set at can hardly be worthy of idolisation) of war-movies. And some just add a lot more to it then your regular run-of-the-mill shoot-the-baddies movie. Platoon is one of them. Greatness.

Asides that, my neck and shoulders are still very painfull and to be honest I can’t think of why they do. I haven’t done any real excercise or anything weird at all. Oh well, it’ll pass. Anyways, today was a pretty good day – considering that I am off and all. I am thinking about maybe taking another week off – in order to relax a bit. Keep in mind that eventhough I have had days off, most of the time I had things to do (such as moving, arranging stuff in order to move etc.) I haven’t had a day off to relax like this in what, over 6 months now? So I think I am entitled to a week soon ;-)

Having said that, I think I am going to get me some food and fire up the good ol’ study again. Take care.

Well as you might not notice – the site has been updated.  A new version of the backend has been installed – and to combat spam I have installed and activated a certain plugin. I have, am, and will continue to do my best to keep this site spamfree :)

 Apart from that I will be busy doing some other things on the site today – so stick around!
