Sunday is supposedly a day off…

Please note that I mention, supposedly :) Right now, well I am working… Sunday just so happens to be one of those days that are just right to do maintenance.

Apart from that I had a great weekend. Lots of fun on Friday and especially on Saturday. Screaming your lungs out while dancing with friends (especially if they are doing the same thing) is something that I haven’t done in a long time – and well that was a lot of fun. Before that I got together with some friends and had a nice time just chatting away about bits and bobs :)

Owh and more and more I am liking this EEE. Although I must admit that running Linux on it is maybe not going to be permanent… I do miss a few things that I could do with Windows that Linux can’t. Yes, I said it… Thunderbird is great, but I rely on Outlook for a lot of things (PIM)

The first day with the EEE pc unlocked

First thing to notice is the response-times the machine gives. For a 800 or 900MHz it’s incredibly responsive and fast.

although the keyboard is small, typing can be done at reasonable speed and ease as well. I am amazed, even so after having played with it for more then a day now. the potential it has is great, and right now it is realizing that just fine :)

The only thing I miss is the option to increase the actual connection-possibilities. think along the lines of a mini-pci, or pci-e card. even PCMCIA… but right now, the device does support USB-modems apparently. if that turns out to be the case, it would make the ultimate lightweight portable and affordable solution for lots of people, including myself. I just need to get some things running on the default Xandros Linux installation and I will be good to go.

First things on the list are a USB-CD/DVDROM drive and a bigger SD-card. That would just make things a lot easier. Especially if I indeed do go over to Windows XP at one point or another.

I can really see myself using this device more then my laptop. Apart from the nerd-factor it also just does what I need it to do. And of course, it’s the new toy. So that always is more preferred then the old toys ;-)

I do notice that I will need to do some trimming and configuring on the power-saving, or that could just be me.

Overall I am very pleased with this purchase, and I look forward to continue using it. The only gripe I have was the fact that it came with an UK power plug, which doesn’t work in the wall outlets outside of the UK of course ;)

ASuS EEE PC on the way to me!

w00t! My freshly ordered ASuS EEE PC is on the way to me… I feel like a kid on the xmas-eve just before they go to bed.

I ordered the black version, and well, I will see how it runs and works. I fully intend to use it as a playtoy for Linux, or if I can upgrade it ;) maybe Windows XP. The idea is to keep notes, write blogs (heh) and other things on it, which right now I can’t really do when I am on the road. The EEE PC is small and light enough for me to carry around and still use, while it’s handier then my phone or a PDA.

Admittedly, I could also use the (smart)phone, but hey – this will do and not’s that freakishly expensive like a notebook. Anywho, I’m off…

Back up and running…?

Well, here we go again… Another long awaited post.

Life has been busy. Very busy to be honest, but hey - I’m still alive. Work is been hecctic, and will probably remain so for some time to come,
but well - that’s work for you :)

Apart from that, there has not been much changes around here…
Kind of boring huh?

Yeah well, I am now 27, that’s about it I guess…

Take care and see you soon (I promise I’ll try!)
